Afternoon drive
Hi all, Cole and I went for a little cruise Saturday at the Superstitions. The weather was great and the crowds nonexistent. We played in the mud notches, then ran out to the dry lake bed and ran the dunes over to Sand Dam. We parked at the bottom watching quads climbing the hill and talking some other jeepers. After a bit we took off up one of the steep ridge trails, sometimes only as wide as our jeeps. All went well untill almost dusk, when Cole couldnt get past a step on a steep, narrow climb. After trying a couple of times the off camber nature of the trail caused him to slide dangerously off the trail. We tried to pull him from rear, back on the trail, but every move only made him slide farther off the side. The good part was that now I was able to get past him, and because my jeep has lockers was able to climb to the top of the hill and provide a winch point for Cole to pull himself back on the trail and past the step to the top. This is one situation where nothing but a winch would have worked. So, if anyone is playing Santa, I'll take a Warn M8000. Just kidding, but I'm amazed at how an easy afternoon cruise can go sour, and it seems like always as its getting dark.

Thanks, the pics are some Cole and I took last weekend in Carrizo and Sandstone canyon. I couldnt get them posted and asked Chris to. I guess I wasnt clear on where they were from. Thanks Chris, the only pics from the Afternoon cruise look almost flat, and the trail was anything but! Rick
